Ceol Beag Lismore

pictured at 12 hours old:
Ceol Beag Lismore is the first purebred Highland
pony born at Lone Tree Farm, and to our knowledge
she is also the first one born in California!
This filly has been many years in the planning and we
are thrilled with her. She already loves people, and
has the calm Highland disposition of both her parents.

She is a dark yellow dun with a tiny white star now,
but the grey hairs around her eyes and muzzle are a
sign that she will eventually go grey like her mother.

Lismore will make a wonderful show or family pony and would also be an asset to any Highland pony breeding program.
Lismore pictured below at 6 weeks. Getting bigger,
and cuter by the day! It is easier to see that she is
going to be grey now that she is shedding her foal
coat on her face and legs.

April 2006 Lismore's first show! We are delighted with Lismore's first place win in the mixed Mountain & Moorland youngstock class at the West Coast Welsh Show in Roseburg Oregon. She showed off her lovely trot in the ring and accepted the hustle and bustle of the showgrounds in typical Highland pony style. This pony is destined to be a star and we are very proud of her!

Showing off her first place ribbon at home after the show.
Just a month shy of her second birthday and looking gorgeous!

First show under saddle, first and second! She was also the only pony and the youngest in the classes.

Shuna at 3 years old above and below.
Lismore's dam Circle H Shuna is a 4 year old mare
by Glenbanchor Lewis out of Coulmore Shadow.
Shuna was bred by Ann Armann of Lone Butte B.C.
Ann's family has been breeding Highland ponies in
Scotland for more than 50 years. Both Shuna's
parents were imported from the UK to Canada for
Ann's breeding program. Shuna's dam was bred by
Ann's mother and has show winning relatives in the UK.

Shuna was started under saddle last fall as a 3 year old
and was a star pupil. A good example of her mellow temperament: her third time under saddle she went
out on a 2 hour trail ride and behaved perfectly. Cars,
deer, jack rabbits--no problem!

Shuna is a lovely mare with classic Highland pony type;
massive bone and substance and the famous kind and
quiet Highland disposition. She also has an exceptionally pretty head.

Quartz in 2004, eight years old:

Lismore's Sire Quartz of Croila is an excellent example
of the breed, consistently stamping his get with
Highland looks and temperament.

Quartz was bred by the renowned Croila stud in
Scotland and imported to the US as a yearling. He is
by Kyle of Croila, a UK show winner. Quartz has
produced 9 crossbred foals thus far. Lismore is his
first purebred foal.

Quartz is an unusual shade of dun known as grulla
(called mouse dun in the UK). He has passed on the
dun gene to all his offspring to date.
